Hate to burst your bubble, but 1 alliance member was asked to move by a seldom seen (but they do exist) GM who asked them to kindly move out of the way. I don't think you can be perma-banned but possibly a short vacation. They were interfering with a persons right to enjoy the game as it was intended

Yes, great idea, let's mention this idea to Ticketmaster and the guy who runs the local music club. In fact, let's just ban tall people from coming to public gatherings altogether.

And ban stilts. And tall unicycles. If you're too short that's your own disposition to deal with in your own way. Perhaps request that for next year Anet put Thorn on a raised stage...

If players want to be inconsiderate prick, I can be too, so what if I want to see the Mad King? What if there are players who are in their first year of playing and have never seen the Mad King before, after all he's the "main" feature of this festival?

I was in a district where there's one players who keep saying to please move aside so they can see better, but the golem didn't even want to move so we thought they are afk, but, after the mad king left, he move away and says: Hey guys, I move away.

So that's an okay behaviour?

"While playing Guild Wars, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the game." From the EULA.

Yeah, but I think there's a point about not stealing fun from others just for sake of your's.

The pendulum swings both ways.

Sure if someone is deliberately being a nuisance they should be asked to leave but there's nothing stopping them doing what they're doing short of Anet banning use of transmogrifiers in event towns.

There were plenty of districts where there were no golems blocking the view, and the event was going on all day and on literally hundreds of districts across US and EU where you could freely move between. I'm sure you could have found a district easily enough.

True that doesn't excuse people being dicks about it when they're asked to make room, but the problem with MMO games is that there's very few adults to supervise all the kids and very little the ones who are there can actually do since we can't simply engage in pvp in a town...

There's griefers in every online community, you just have to find a way to deal with them if the community admins aren't sorting the issue.

Others have the right to enjoy using a tonic and standing where ever they like, and enjoy the game by doing it.
funny how this vague statement can go either way. Plus the while doing this, i heard many people threaten and use abusive language to the golems, so in fact they were explicitly violating the EULA, even if the golems were implicitly violating it.

So much over exaggeration on this thread.
How is this "stealing fun" or "being a prick" by using an item that's in the game?

I remember people using the /dancenew on their assassin at last year's Halloween. A giant discoball would pop up, right into the King's face.

Same rants, same whining.

So there's nothing new this year about people getting grieved.

Global warming, oil shortages, food shortages, rampant disease and poverty, children and women being sold as sex slaves, the up-coming election, unending wars, people being hacked to death with machetis, innocent people on death row, radio-active waste storage, cancer, the outrageous cost of health care, the fast-food/diabetes/pharmisuticles connection, C.E.R.N. and herpes...and you're bitching about not being able to see a cartoon character...interesting priorities. Move to another district...and before anyone suggests these assholes are everywhere, I had no issues in ANY of the districts I visited. close QQ thread please. It's over.

I would count the ones who repeatedly moved on and off the Mad King despite being asked to stay off of him and/or who stood on him spouting off inane comments as griefers and should be reported as such. They were knowingly doing something to aggrivate the rest of the players in the district.

If you want to say "Well, you should have gone to a district where there werent any" then well they could have all gone to one district and have a big golem party instead of griefing everyone else in so many districts.

Its not a problem of the tonics being so big, its a problem of people behaving like jerks because they dont think there could be any repercussions. If there were live GMs that could have booted them as caught in the act that would have been great. As is, the only thing we can do is report and wait and maybe they will get a belated slap on the wrist. Maybe they wont do it again but that is highly doubtful.

Ok so now I feel guilty about the real world but you could use your specious arguments as a reason for not doing anything.

Drunk driving ignore it people are starving.
Rape ignore it Atomic war is a real possibility.

We are in a game forum talking about a game, references to horrifying real world disasters have no place here.
btw what have YOU done to reduce any one of the disasters you mention ?

Arenanet should either reduce the golem size or alter the festivals to allow people to enjoy them.

Why does ANet ban leechers? It is their way to enjoy the game!! Common sense please. You can stand anywhere you want, but if you are blocking the view of others, it is NOT too much asked for you to move somewhere else.
Or are they deliberately standing in front of children blocking their view too?

Griefers are a sad bunch of people, but much worse are those that try to defend that behaviour.

I wish they would put a barrier around characters like the Mad King so no one could get that close. Make everyone stay an arm or so lengths away.

Funny thing is there are already barriers around NPC's, like the Xunlai Agent and such. Would make an easy patch for this problem.

Sure, everyone is free to exercise their rights.
The problem arises when people infringe into other people's rights while exercising their own.

But this being an action that might result in a ban?
I SERIOUSLY doubt it.

A badly chosen name is reason enough for a temporary ban. So why not?

Because banning people for standing somewhere while under the effect of a tonic is dumb.
